About Me

My photo
I have been into photography for virtually all my life. One of my earliest memories is of my Dad setting up a studio in the lounge to take photos of me and my sister then making the kitchen into a dark room and printing till the early hours of the morning. He had a passion for photography the same way I do now. My dad gave me a camera and one lens for my 13th Birthday, after I showed him my first roll of film, he told me I had a talent for it. The whole of my working life has been consumed with the capture of image I have a wealth of experience in all types of photography, I have worked in Europe, America, Asia, The South pacific and Australia. I spent a few years traveling the world working as a photographer on cruise ships.I have shot weddings all over the world. Photographed postcards for the Gold coast and Vanuatu. The last 8 years i was working for Canon supporting professional photographers, retailers and news papers. Now it is time to use all that knowledge for my own business... I have opened my own studio and Gallery. My aim is to be the local contact for all photographic related business. Drop in for a coffee and say Hi...

First post

Welcome to my "Trash the dress" blog, This blog will be dedicated to "Trashing" video and stills.

I discovered dress trashing about 8 months ago and really loved the concept and the high level of fun that could be had.

I have posted my previous trashings below:

I met up with Tammy & Mark at the Marriott Hotel at Surfers Paradise, they were in the bar getting into the "Spirit of things", Tammy and Mark were wonderful to work with, she was keen to try anything I suggested, and from our email chat she knew what i was looking for.

We had both seen a lot of "Trash The Dress" images and to be honest we both said that were a little bored with them, beautiful images but, there didnt seem to be much fun being had. Tammy and I had exactly the same ideas, When you do something like this it should be fun, We set out to do just that.

First we went to the Gold coast spit and got some great images of them on the jetty with some waves breaking over the sea wall, and on the wonderful rocks on the jetty, then it was back down the pub for a bit more getting into the" spirit of things" before we hit the beach, oppersite Sea World.

The sun had pretty much gone down and it was just what i wanted, we had to work quickly, Firstly I had them do a few runs up the beach and in the surf to get things rolling, then we got them into the sea, Tammy and Mark were both having a good time and it really showed on there faces and in the images. My thanks to Heath & Greg who came along to assist and get a few images, i cant wait to see what they came up with.

Thanks guys you were great.

Nicola & Justin

On Sunday afternoon I went down to the Gold Coast to do another "Trash The Dress" shoot. I have photographed Nicolas family previously, and when she came to my studio for her family portrait viewing she saw my "Trash the dress" print on the wall. When i explained what it was she was very keen to do a shoot as well.

Nicola has been married a while but it was a great excuse to wear the wedding dress again, I think a lot of brides never expect to wear there dress again, so when you can present a opportunity too, they jump at it. Having such a very different concept of what sort of images I want to create, people really embrace at the opportunity of doing something a little different and a bit outside the square.

This was a little different as we had some of the bridal party to trash too, the shoot was done on the north side of the gold coast spit where the water is calm and there are very few waves. This gave me the opportunity to do something different from my other shoots.

Greg Norris came along to second shoot for me and got some fantastic images of the kids together, also he was a great to have help in trying to perfect my overhead shots. (Still working on them, but getting there).

Thanks to Nicola & Justin for being so much fun to shoot.

I hope you like the images...Enjoy

Debbie's Trashing

So here are some images from my latest Trash the dress shoot, Debbie was really brave as the water was a little cold and i kept getting her to lay down and roll around. I had the shoot videoed by Geoff from G.S.Productions.

Geoff did a really great job, it was one of the worst days to shoot, it was late cold and spitting with rain but its hard to tell from the images and video.

Geoff From GS doing his stuff...We arn't afraid of getting wet

Just showing images as we create them is a great way to motivate the models to do more fun things.

Ok...well maybe i should not have showed her the images...

Nice tan line Debbie.
